TMPCC Cruise Rules

SECTION 1 - TO PARTICPATE IN OUR CRUISES AND PRIVATE EVENTS:

a) You must be a TMPCC member, club sponsor or authorized guest to participate in our cruises and private events.

b) Members are allowed to bring their family or significant other to our cruises and private events.

SECTION 2 - RECOMMENDED CRUISE PREPARATIONS:

a) Check fluid levels: engine oil, transmission, coolant, brake, power steering, etc.

b) Check the condition of your tires and check tire pressure (including spare).

c) Make sure you have a full tank of fuel, because the caravan will not stop en-route to most of our destinations.

d) Charge your cell phone and bring it with you.

e) We recommend the purchase of a two-way GMRS radio, because you'll find it helpful listening to the group en route to our destination, and you'll know in advance when we change lanes or exit the freeway. The club officers use Midland GXT1000VP4 FRS/GMRS band radios. These are FRS and GMRS band radios advertised to have a range of several miles. A pair of these radios can be purchased for under $70.00, but any GMRS radio will do. Since we use the GMRS band (which requires an FCC license) all club members will be covered under the club's FCC radio license on event days. So there is no need to purchase a license if you only plan to use the GMRS band on the radio for club events. The FRS band does not require a license but has a shorter range (which is why we use the GMRS band) however FRS is perfect for your family use at home or on vacation, so you can still use the radios on non-club event days. We will give you the channel assignment for the day at each staging area.

f) If you participate in our events with a vehicle you don't drive every day, we recommend the purchase of a "Battery Tender Plus" battery charger. Some members have been unable to attend past events because their vehicle would not start. A battery tender will keep your battery fully charged and ready to go.

g) Remember to wear your TMPCC membership badge. If you don't have a lanyard for your badge, ask one of our officers for a lanyard at the event.

SECTION 3 - BASIC CRUISE GUIDELINES:

a) We will have club officers or other authorized members with two-way radio communications in the lead vehicle position, in the middle and at the rear of the caravan. This is to keep the leader posted of the group's status as we proceed to our destination.

b) All members should drive with their headlights on for the duration of the cruise. This is a safety precaution so other drivers can see us more easily. Day time running lamps are accepted.

c) When driving on surface streets from the staging area to the freeway, if you get caught at a stop light, don't worry. If the leader of the caravan is already on the freeway, they will drive in the far right lane, at the legal minimum limit of 45 miles per hour, until all the vehicles in the caravan are on the freeway and merge as part of our group. This is one of the reasons we recommend radio communications. Once all the members are on the freeway and have met up with the caravan, the caravan leader will get our group up to the legal 65 mile per hour limit, and then we will start moving the entire caravan over to the number two lane (the second lane to the right of the center divider). This allows vehicles that are not in our caravan to pass us on the left, as we maintain the legal speed limit in the number two lane.

d) Please be courteous and allow other traffic to merge with us. Some traffic that isn't in our caravan, will want to move through us to other lanes. Don't close the gap so tight that we have an accident occurring due to others on the road wanting to move through our caravan to other lanes.

e) Tailgating is not allowed. For every 10 miles of speed, a distance of one car length is recommended, or two seconds between you and the car ahead, regardless of speed.

f) There will be no passing or speeding in the caravan. However, club photographers will be allowed to pass or move through the caravan to take pictures for our website and Facebook page.

g) If you have a life threatening emergency call 911 on your cell phone first. Then let us know on the radio, just in case we have a doctor or a studio medic in the caravan that day. They might be able to assist you before the paramedics arrive.

h) If you experience a mechanical problem en-route to the restaurant, ask for help and one of our members should stop to assist you, but the rest of the caravan will continue to the event destination. For a Cruise Event, we recommend you go to one of the online mapping sites, like Map Quest or Google Maps. Print a map to our destination, that way if you experience mechanical problems, flat tires, etc., you can meet us at the destination after your problem has been resolved.

i) Our events are usually held at or near restaurants. We will arrive at most destinations around 12 noon, have lunch and talk cars. When the event is over, you can head back home with the main caravan or go your own way.

j) You are responsible for your restaurant tab. Some restaurants will present separate checks, while others bill for an entire table or the entire group. Since we have very low membership dues, the club runs on a very tight budget and we can't afford to have members skipping out on their bill. If we find a member skipping payment on food they ordered, the member will be barred from the club.

k) Intentional burnouts or juvenile behavior will not be tolerated. You represent the TMPCC and the entertainment industry as a whole, and we ask that everyone respect the owners and the property of the establishments we visit.

SECTION 4 - ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

a) PRIVATE EVENTS: We hold several private events throughout the year so our celebrity members are not bothered by stalkers or the paparazzi. These private events are NOT advertised in the public domain, therefore it is important NOT to share any of our private event dates, times or destinations with non-members. Anyone divulging the dates, times or locations of our private events to non-members, will be dismissed from the club.

b) PUBLIC EVENTS: Our public events are the only events we advertise in the public domain, like Facebook, our website, etc. Our largest public event is the annual car show we host at the Fireworks Festival at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California. This is a charity event and we welcome anyone and everyone to spread the word and attend to help the charities the event benefits.

c) Don't forget to clean your car and bring a camera to the event, because you're likely to see vehicles you don't see everyday. Dress casually… dress comfortably... but most of all... have fun!

SECTION 5 - LEGAL NOTICE:

Legal Disclaimer: By participating in a TMPCC event, you waive and release any and all claims of any nature you may have against The Television Motion Picture Car Club (TMPCC), its past, present or future officers or members, any TMPCC event sites or organizers, and all past, present or future sponsors and supporters, including injuries, damages, destruction or loss of your property, including theft, arising from or connected in any way with a Television Motion Picture Car Club event. You also grant us and others permission to film, videotape or photograph you and your vehicle for our website or Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
